We are now in a position to be able to give you an update on
the building repair work at Holy Trinity.
Work required
It has been confirmed that the spire is not connected to the
tower it is simply being held in place by gravity! Wind movement has caused
significant damage to the stonework at the top of the tower. It is essential
that the repairs are undertaken as a matter of urgency to prevent any further
deterioration in the condition of the tower.
A contractor has been selected following the issue of tenders by the architect,
and this week the PCC gave approval for the project to proceed.
The cost of the repair work is approximately £55,000.
This will have a significant impact on the Parish finances as we have not yet
had the opportunity to mobilise resources to conduct any fund raising activity.
Contributions to the cost will be most warmly received!
Scaffoldinq
The scaffolding that was erected around the tower at the end of
July will remain in place until the repair work has been completed.
Timing
We are now waiting for a start date from the contractor - it is
hoped that this will be within the next three weeks. It is anticipated that the
repair work will take about five weeks, subject to any weather delays.

Parish Wardens
