There continues to be a lot of speculation about the future of the Holy Trinity Church Building, so it was thought that it would be helpful to provide regular updates to keep everyone informed.
Scaffolding
Scaffolding will be erected around the tower, commencing on 24 July. This is necessary because the Diocesan Architect has recommended that closer inspection is made of some cracking in the tower. Depending on the results of that inspection, the scaffolding will need to remain in place while the remedial work is undertaken. This is an essential health and safety action, separate from the decision of the future of the Holy Trinity site, which remains to be decided.
Bracknell Town Centre Redevelopment
On 10 July, we received a formal request from Bracknell Forest
Borough Council for the ownership details of the Holy Trinity Church site, and
any surrounding land interests. This request has been made under the Council's
Compulsory Purchase Order powers. We are in the process of responding to the
request, which we do not believe signals any change in the Council's previous
plans, which were to leave the Holy Trinity Church site undisturbed, but are to
enable the council to obtain 'over sailing rights' (for a crane).
Our District Church Council is setting up a separate
committee to consider the longer term future of the building, and will be
keeping everyone regularly informed as information becomes available.
